Merve Tekgürler

Merve Tekgürler is a PhD candidate in History. They have a BA degree in History and Social and Cultural Anthropology from Freie University, Berlin. In their dissertation research, Merve is working on Ottoman-Polish borderlands in late eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries, with a focus on changes and continuities north of the Danubian River in relation to Russian and Austrian imperial policy. Aside from their dissertation research, Merve is training a handwritten text recognition model for eighteenth century Ottoman Turkish and working at Center for Spatial and Textual Analysis as graduate mentor.
Merve redesigned the CMEMS Website in Spring/Summer 2022 and was previously a Graduate Coordinator for CMEMS.
